Project Success Story: Diagnostic System Transformation
From 2019 to 2024, we tackled the ambitious challenge of transforming diagnostics for one of Europe’s largest telecom providers. Operating across five countries, the company used separate tools for DOCSIS, Mobile (3G/4G/5G), and GPON diagnostics — causing inconsistent UX, duplicated efforts, and high maintenance. Over 10 legacy systems required local teams for support and updates.
As each country managed its infrastructure, costs and complexity soared. Training on multiple systems was inefficient, and local data centers cost €2M annually. Outdated tools raised security risks, while a lack of shared architecture blocked scalability. Coordinating diverse teams and needs made unified progress even harder.
NetworkedAssets designed and delivered a single cloud-based diagnostics platform, replacing 10+ legacy systems. Built on AWS with Pulumi, Grafana, Prometheus, Vue 3, Kotlin, and Kafka, it supports all network types and integrates workflows. The unified UI, used by 800+ agents, offers 50+ custom views and adapts to country-specific needs.
A central API connects 30+ internal systems, including big data platforms, ensuring reliable diagnostics access. The modular architecture features adapter layers and reusable UI components for fast deployment. Security enhancements include hardened AMIs, mTLS, SAML, dependency scanning, centralized logging, and encryption, passing external audits. Success stemmed from cross-country collaboration, harmonized workflows, KPIs, and agile methods.
The impact has been substantial. Operational savings estimated at €10 million over five years, with data center costs cut by 50% annually. The unified platform accelerated diagnostics, improved onboarding and training, and enabled faster rollout of new features.
Uptime reached ~99,99%, supporting 800+ support agents and 30+ internal systems. By retiring 10 legacy systems, the provider reduced technical debt and freed resources for innovation.
