We just updated our Greenhopper Installation to v5.9.3 and activated the 'The Rapid Board for Scrum'-Feature from Atlassian's GreenHopper Labs.

We use Scrum in our projects but it is a pain to manage all the different issues from different Jira Projects in our Sprint/Grooming/Presentation-Meetings. With the Rapid Board-Feature we can manage our stories and plan our sprints in a much more comfortable way.

We have 2 projects with the schema-type for Scrum and also the Planning-Board in GreenHopper (Agile-Tab) is assosiated with the template for Scrum (with Story-Points and Businessvalues in the Story-Form)

After installing the new GreenHopper-Version you will be asked to activate the new feature. Go to 'Agile -> Manage Rapid Boards' and create one. We select Scrum as it is our preferred template, you can also use a Kanban template or create your own. I've also prepared some stories in my backlog in the Planning Board.

Fill out the form and choose the projects involved in your planning. The rapid board should look like the one below:

rapid_board_with_backlog

As you see there is a Sprint-Marker and the backlog with stories we can plan our sprint with. If you want your story to be implemented in the sprint, just drag it over the sprint-marker:

rapid_board_with_selected_stories

If you click on a story you get the information you need for planning immediatley on the right side  without opening a new page (this is the most useful thing!):

You can start the sprint just by clicking on "Start Sprint" (we are using a two week sprint interval). You will be asked for the start-, end-date and the name of the sprint.  Now we can see that Sprint 1 is in progress, and our backlog is visible as well:

You can now switch to the work-mode for Sprint 1 to see the current progress.

Very simple and very useful!
